You’ve found us, and we are pleased to welcome you
My name is Darrell Holmes, Pastor at the Beacon. We are honoured as a family to serve God and be part of the wider Baptist family. The Baptist Church, Kilmington gathers at The Beacon and draws people from across the rural Axe Valley and beyond. We’ve been around the area since 1650, so we have a great history. Read all about it here But most people want to know about the church of today. We are ordinary people with an extraordinary passion to be servants for Christ Jesus.
We aim to reflect the love of Jesus to all we meet daily in our lives. That means you too! We have a congregation of over 140 people of all ages serving the community in a variety of ways. We seek to be a Beacon for Jesus, living out our faith wherever we may be, and in whatever we do.
Our verse for the year is challenging us to pray for those who are not-yet believers and also to be united with all of God’s church both locally and globally. However, the best way to get to know us is to come along to one of our meetings or events which are shown here

Our church has a long history of supporting and encouraging mission around the world, a practice that we continue to uphold. A glance at our yearly calendar will show that we schedule regular update and prayer for those who serve overseas, inspection of our finances will reveal that we invest significant sums of money into mission in many continents.
This month we have lined up a series of visiting preachers, speakers and films to inspire and excite us about the many ways in which God is at work in mission in Camaroon, North Africa, Thailand, in the Armed Services, in the South West and also on our doorstep in Axminster. It is for that reason we are calling October our “Mission Month” – not that every month isn’t a time for mission, but that we can have an intense period of learning and growing in this area.
